Unthink Money with Yolt

All this month we’ve been focusing on ways to help you save here at the OhMyDosh HQ and this post is certainly no exception. We are determined to become more saving savvy in 2020 and we want you to join us on the journey - get those bags packed Doshers!

So when we heard that Yolt could be ‘the app’ to help us with our money management troubles, we just had to give it a go. If you want to find out exactly what we thought and if Yolt really is worth downloading then stay tuned ‘cos here we go!

Firstly, we can all agree, Yolt is very visually pleasing. It’s fun and vibrant design shakes off that boring financial feel from the get go. It screams forward thinking and we love it!

Installing Yolt is simple. You can download it on iOS or Android and it’s completely free. It takes around 2 minutes to set up, first you enter your details like your name and email address, then you connect it to your bank. We thought this part might be a little bit of a faf but it was super easy. If you have your bank app already downloaded, it joins the two together with no problems at all. Very clever really!

And there you have it, you’re all set up. You can then add other bank accounts, customise these and add your savings accounts too. It may take a couple of minutes to familiarize yourself with Yolt's features and to have a good nose around, but that’s fine. Personalising your account and adding your own touch makes it all that more fun.

What’s good about Yolt is that it breaks down exactly what you’re spending so you can keep track of where your money is going each month. It will tell you how much you’ve spent on bills, shopping, eating out etc. This may uncover a few spending habits that you’re a little embarrassed about (£100 on ya morning coffee) but that’s good! Now you can see exactly how much you’re spending, you can make the changes you need to hit those saving goals.

That’s where the budgeting feature comes in, this allows you to stay on track with your spending. If last month you’ve spent waaaaay too much on shopping for your liking (we feel ya) then you can adjust your budget so this month you aim to spend less. You’ll get notifications from Yolt when you’re about to go over your budget helping you think twice before you spend.

You can also set saving goals using a Savings Tile. This shows you how much you’ve saved over the past three months and allows you to see that money you’ve been putting aside, giving you the motivation you need to keep on going!

On a mission to end app juggling, Yolt have now launched Yolt Pay. With this you can move money between accounts and pay your friends. This is a new feature and still in test mode but you can try it out already if your banks are supported!

There’s so many amazing features in Yolt, we could go on alllll day. You can compare energy deals in-app, see your pensions and investments, get phone and home insurance and pair up with apps like Raisin and Monevo. The best thing to do is download the app have a good root around. We’re sure that just like us, you won’t be able to leave it alone!

So like we said at the beginning of this post, is Yolt really worth downloading? Well we give it a big thumbs up. It’s not easy to keep track of your money but Yolt makes it clear and easy to understand where your money’s going. Being able to budget will make saving much easier and Yolt is the perfect app for doing this. If you want to get on top of your finances and spend smart, then get Yolt. (For freeeee!)

P.s you’ll also earn £3.50 when you download Yolt through OhMyDosh so not only is it free, you’ll earn money for downloading it. Smart thinking just like the app.
