Celebrating International Women’s Day 2020

To celebrate International Women’s Day 2020 we want to introduce you to the wonderful women who help keep OhMyDosh afloat. Our fabulous team is forever growing and this year we’ve welcomed a couple of new faces. So get comfy, grab a cuppa (we go through copious amounts in the office) and meet the team.

This year the International Women's Day theme is #EachforEqual. Together we can help create a gender equal world.

So without futher ado, here's the amazing women of OhMyDosh and what IWD means to them...

Name: Pip
Job Title: Marketing Executive

Can you describe your role at OhMyDosh and what you love most about it?
My role at OhMyDosh is to look after all things marketing. That means creating fabulous emails and blog posts for our Doshers as well as looking after our social media channels. I also update offers and make any changes that need to be done on the website.

I love my job at OhMyDosh because I get to be creative and have fun with it. The team's also so great to work with!

What does International Women’s Day mean to you?
International Women's Day to me is a day we can all come together and celebrate the amazing women who have impacted our lives whether it be in the present or the past. It's also a strong reminder that inequality still exists but we are calling for change and together we can make it happen.

Which historical woman inspires you the most?
The woman that inspires me the most has to be Stacey Dooley. She's been to places so many that most people would refuse to go to so that women across the world can get their stories out. It's shocking to hear that horrible things are still happening to so many women around the world but thanks to her these women have a voice and we can start to make a change.

What do you believe will be the biggest challenge that the next generation of women will have to face?
I think the use of social media will be the biggest challenge to the next generation. It's becoming increasingly damaging to our mental health and how we see ourselves. Hateful and nasty comments on social media need to be regulated and eliminated.

Name: Amy
Job Title: Email Marketing Executive

Can you describe your role at OhMyDosh and what you love most about it?
I am part of the OMD email team and I love being able to help test new ideas, and then see the results.

What does International Women’s Day mean to you?
It's a celebration of all the great things that women have achieved in the past and it's a chance to reflect and be grateful.

Which woman inspires you the most?
Jessie from Little Mix is one of many women that inspire me. Her documentary 'Odd One Out' must have helped so many others who are going through a similar situation to show them they're not alone. Trolling is becoming more and more common now so it's important people share their experiences.

What do you believe will be the biggest challenge that the next generation of women will have to face?
With social media becoming a massive part of people's day-to-day lives, there's a lot of pressure for women to look a certain way.

Name: Hannah Siggers
Job Title: Senior Account Manager

Can you describe your role at OhMyDosh and what you love most about it?
I manage our little account management team on dosh and look after a variety of brands you see on site, I make sure to try and get you the best deals possible!

I love talking to all clients daily and getting their brands in front of you guys to explore and get involved with. Every day throws new challenges, you never get bored!

What does International Women’s Day mean to you?
We should always celebrate those women in history who took it upon themselves to make changes for the future women today. So much has changed, and it gets better as the years go on, equality is so important and here at dosh we pride ourselves in it!

Which historical woman inspires you the most?
Emmeline Pankhurst

What do you believe will be the biggest challenge that the next generation of women will have to face?
I think the next biggest challenge women will face is being judged for moving away from being the stay at home mums and not wanting children to instead becoming more career driven and independent.

Name: Amber
Job Title: Account Manager

Can you describe your role at OhMyDosh and what you love most about it?
My role at OhMyDosh is to manage current clients, advertisement and brand campaigns to get the best deals for all of our users! I love talking to clients daily and coming up with new promotions.

What does International Women’s Day mean to you?
International Women's Day is important to me because it identifies the need for women to have equality throughout their life and get rid of the huge gender gap in hope of a better future.

Which historical woman inspires you the most?
Emmeline Pankhurst is one of the most inspirational women when it comes to fighting for our rights! She started our right to vote and fought hard to prove that women could still do the traditional men's jobs whilst they were out at war! What a woman!

What do you believe will be the biggest challenge that the next generation of women will have to face?
The biggest challenge for the next generation of women will still probably be the gender pay gap and also having women in more powerful roles e.g. President, Prime Minister, CEO's etc.

Name: Georgia

Job Title: Email Marketing Exec

Can you describe your role at OhMyDosh and what you love most about it?
Bringing amazing dosh emails to life. I love all of Pip & Dales punny puns.

What does International Women’s Day mean to you?
I think international Women's Day is about more than just 'equality' with men. It should be about celebrating all that women do from being mum's to working in government, especially in the 21st century, and actually embracing their femininity as something that sets them apart from Men - in a positive way.

Which historical woman inspires you the most?
Queen Victoria. She was short and sassy.

What do you believe will be the biggest challenge that the next generation of women will have to face?
Life after lip fillers, increasing cost of shoes Work/Life balance. The constant battle of finally becoming 'equal' to men in a workplace, and wanting to start a family.

Lovely to meet you all, working hard behind the scenes!
My inspirational woman is
Harriet Tubman who an American abolitionist and political activist. Born into slavery, Tubman escaped and subsequently made some 13 missions to rescue approximately 70 enslaved people, including family and friends, using the network of antislavery activists and safe houses known as the Underground Railroad. Slaves also escaped by using the river as the tracker dogs lost their scent.
